I have discovered Glass for myself. Glass is an extremely minimalist photo community platform that spurs and encourages my creativity a bit.
Of course, comparisons to Instagram in its early days immediately come to mind. And perhaps that’s why the platform is so interesting to me. The platform focuses exclusively on photos. No videos, no shorts, no reels, no other Tik Tok like features.
You can follow people, you can like and comment on their photos. That`s it. Very simple.
And lets face it. Thats all it takes when it comes to pictures. Photos can be art. When someone sees himself as a photographer, he wants to appeal to the aesthetic self in you. Tik Tok, Instram & Co. are entertainment. But that’s not what Glass is about.
Yes, it costs money, and at €4.99 a month, it’s not cheap either. But it’s worth it to me to get an ad-free, purely art-oriented photo community.
It remains to be seen that it is worth it for the creators and that this minimalist concept can be maintained for a long time.
